Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Excitement filled the air as Bergsig Academy proudly welcomed its newest high school learners – the Grade 8s of 2026, officially the Class of 2030 – as they walked through the school gates for the very first time as Bergsigiete.

The year began on a high note, marking the start of a memorable five-year journey ahead. From the outset, the Grade 8 learners were immersed in a warm, energetic initiation programme designed to help them connect, build friendships, and feel at home. Over the course of the first few days, learners got to know one another, shared laughter, and began forming bonds that will carry them through their high school years.

A highlight of the initiation week was the fun-filled “Check-ins (Kyk-ins)” theme day, where creativity truly took flight. Learners arrived dressed as birds — some sporting beaks… others wings. With many fun moments and lasting memories still to come, the school community looks forward to watching these young learners grow, flourish, and eventually soar as proud Bergsig Eagles.
