
Iron-willed trio conquers Durban 70.3
Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – Three members of Run/Walk For Life Rustenburg proudly crossed the finish line at the ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Durban on Sunday, 7 June 2026, earning well-deserved medals after completing one of the world’s most demanding endurance events. The race consisted of a 1.9km ocean swim, a 90km cycle and a 21.1km half-marathon run.
Jan-Nolte Ekkerd (55–59) completed the event in 5:45, Ane van der Linde (40–44) in 5:58, and Marelize Ekkerd (50–54) in 6:32. Known for its vibrant beachfront atmosphere and testing multi-discipline format, the Durban event attracts athletes from across South Africa and beyond, all determined to push their physical and mental limits.
