DRAWING KINDNESS
Rustenburg – Young artists displayed their artwork from 4 October when the Rustenburg Lions Club held its second art exhibition at the Rustenburg local library.
The theme for this year’s competition was ‘kindness matters’. Entries were received from learners of Laerskool Protea Park, Laerskool Vastrap, Laerskool Rustenburg, Kloof View Primary School, Rutanang Primary Education Centre, Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng and Fields College.
The president of the Rustenburg Lions Club Juan Mitchell said: “This year we received 131 entries, each with a unique message. It is wonderful to see that this competition is growing, and we are happy that we can provide a platform where the youth can showcase their talents.”
Tshepang Maluangwe, artist from Bafokeng; Jackie Carlsen, owner of Kuns en Kwas; and Nalize Venter of Ginger Studio will act as judges for this competition.
Five winners will be chosen.
Winners will be announced shortly, and the five best posters will be entered into a district and national competition where the winner will stand a chance to win a trip to New York. The national winner’s artwork will be exhibited at the Headquarters of the United Nations in Manhattan and will receive $5000.
Every child that entered will also receive a certificate, a hamburger and soda at Spur as well as a pencil case.
“Thank you to Kuns en Kwas, Inkpot and Spur for your contribution towards this competition,” added Juan.
This local exhibition will be on display at the Rustburg local library until end of October.
