Temporary closures on R52 near Rustenburg
 

Rustenburg/ Koster – Motorists travelling between Koster and Rustenburg are advised to plan ahead this week, as SANRAL has announced temporary Stop/Go road closures on the R52 to allow for controlled blasting as part of road upgrade works.

The closures will take place between Thursday, 21 August, and Friday, 22 August 2025, between 12:00 and 16:00, on the section between km 6.5 and km 7.2. Traffic will be managed through a Stop/Go system, which may result in delays of up to 30 minutes during peak hours. Closure lengths will generally not exceed 5 km, unless required for safety.

“We advise road users to plan their trips accordingly during these essential road upgrades. Please adhere to traffic signage and the instructions of flag personnel – it’s for your safety, as well as that of our workers,” said Mirriam Ramoba, SANRAL’s provincial head for the North West.

These works form part of SANRAL’s ongoing contract R.052-030-2020/1, aimed at improving the safety and quality of national roads in the province.
