Our Ward Matters in action! 

Rustenburg – From bush cutting to clothing donations, Our Ward Matters (OWM) is proving that teamwork and care make Rustenburg a brighter place. Led by André van Dyk and Cllr Tanya Rothman, the initiative serves both Ward 17 and Ward 16 (Geelhoutpark) with the support of their dedicated EPWP team.

20 August: Hospice makeover 
The OWM team gave Hospice Rustenburg a well-deserved facelift:

• Cutting back branches hanging over rooftops and walls
• Cleaning and raking the gardens
• Removing dead branches and overgrowth
• Neatening the grass with brushcutters
• Leaving the property spotless, safe, and welcoming

A big thank you goes to Cllr Tanya Rothman for arranging a skip with the RLM Waste Department, which the team loaded on the day.

20 August: Sharing with Agapé Gemeente
Thanks to Dianne from Agapé Gemeente, OWM was able to hand over 10 bags of clothes and a box of books to residents of Kremetart Municipal Flats in Geelhoutpark. Special appreciation goes to Ronel and Ilse, who carefully sorted the donations to ensure they reached those who needed them most.

21 August: Keeping Rustenburg clean
On Thursday, the OWM team split their efforts:
Two members stayed at Hospice to assist with skip loading.
The rest tackled littering from Azaleapark/ Sellypark Secondary School all the way to KFC Corner (Waterberg and R24) and cleared rubbish around Waterfall Mall.

26 August: Fire Prevention at ‘Little Margate’
At the top of Krokodilrivier near Rockridge View, the OWM team:
Cut back veld with brushcutters
Removed wild trees to improve visibility and safety
Picked up rubbish in the open veld
