Yellow bags, BIG impact: Rustenburg’s OWM on the move!
Rustenburg – From bush cutting to clothing donations, Our Ward Matters (OWM) is proving that teamwork and care make our community a brighter, safer place. Led by André van Dyk and Cllr Tanya Rothman, and supported by their EPWP team, the initiative serves both Ward 17 and Ward 16 (Geelhoutpark).
27 August – Clean-Up Success
Thanks to the RLM Waste Department, a skip was delivered between Springbokpark and Impalapark Complex, arranged by Cllr Rothman. The OWM team filled it with branches and also tackled Tortelduif: cutting grass, removing wild trees, clearing roads, and blowing the streets clean. The clean-up effort removed more than 100 bags of rubbish.
29 August – Our Ward Cares
Two donated beds found their way to a grateful family in Rivers, where children had been sleeping on the floor. Handover was done by Ilse du Preez.
1–2 September – Drive & Clean-Ups
The OWM team tackled litter and illegal dumping across Ward 17 and Geelhoutpark: Timbati veld, Rivers area, Helen Joseph, Tuscany Garage, Mike’s Kitchen, Waterfall Mall, R24, Azaleapark, Voëltjie Park, and more. The team collected over 120 bags of litter.
