Tlhabane’s Glam Gran Makes Top 10!
Tlhabane/ Rustenburg – Beauty, grace, and a life dedicated to service have taken centre stage for local grandmother, Mantsopa Mosime, who has been selected as one of the Top 10 finalists in You magazine’s prestigious Glam Gran competition.
Launched to celebrate the heart of families — grandmothers — the competition honours women who embody love, inspiration, and glamour at every stage of life. Entrants were nominated by loved ones, and Mantsopa’s daughter submitted a heartfelt letter that carried her all the way from the Top 30, through interviews, and now into the final Top 10.
A retired teacher who served for more than 30 years at Motladi-Kgoadigoadi Primary in Tlhabane, Mantsopa has always had a passion for giving back. During her career she helped secure food sponsorships for disadvantaged learners, and today she continues this spirit of service by teaching confirmation classes at her church. Each year, she and her pupils run a project to collect groceries for the local SOS Children’s Village.
But beyond the classroom, Mantsopa embraces life to the fullest. She has travelled to Thailand, Mauritius, Zanzibar, Namibia, and Egypt, and she encourages other retirees to “explore, join exercise clubs, go on holiday, and never stop living your best life.”
As a widow, mother of four, grandmother of two, and great-grandmother of one, she says her greatest strength in life’s tough times comes from prayer and her Christian faith. Her message to other women? “Age is just a number — never be afraid to try new things.”
The competition, which has been running for three months, is featured both online and in You magazine. Now, the public decides the winner.
