Our Ward Matters in action!
Rustenburg – From bush cutting to rubbish removal, Our Ward Matters (OWM) is proving that teamwork truly transforms our community. Led by André van Dyk and Cllr Tanya Rothman, and supported by the EPWP team, OWM continues to bring visible improvements to Wards 16 and 17. Week in, week out, the OWM team makes all the difference!
Kock Street & Kameelboom Avenue
In one of their latest clean-up drives, OWM cleared grass along Kock Street and the traffic island leading into Kameelboom Avenue. The team also tackled the veld opposite Wendy House Pre-School, improving visibility and safety for parents and learners. Further along Maroela Avenue, the Helen Joseph Bridge, and Growth Point Church, volunteers picked up litter and removed overgrown vegetation. A special thank you goes to Pastor Doug and Cllr Tanya Rothman, who arranged a skip through RLM Waste Department to remove all the debris.
Helen Joseph Drive
– Kgaswane Nature Reserve
Another recent focus area was Helen Joseph Drive, where OWM teams cleaned the road leading toward Kgaswane Nature Reserve. By debushing and cutting deeper into the veld, they improved safety for walkers and joggers. Cllr Tanya Rothman also directed the team to clear access to RLM’s sewer line for easier maintenance.
Ward 17 Mega Clean-up
Our Ward Matters joined hands with the DA Ward 17 team and local councillors in Red Maple Drive and Kloof Road, opposite Greystone Shopping Centre, for a large-scale clean-up. Illegal dumping was removed, and overgrown areas were cut back. A DA gazebo was set up to help residents collect proof of residence while volunteers got their hands dirty for a good cause. Thanks to cllrs Jean Keyser, Luan Snyders, Martin Coetzee, OWM volunteer Michael Rothman, and every community member who pitched in to make Ward 17 shine again.
