Rustenburg – From bush cutting to rubbish removal, Our Ward Matters (OWM) once again proved that transformation starts with teamwork. Led by André van Dyk and Cllr Tanya Rothman, and supported by the EPWP team, OWM brought visible change to Wards 16 and 17 — even with the rain trying to slow them down!

24 October — A Day of Dedication
Starting at Wildevy and Geelhout Avenue, seven OWM members cleared overgrowth and litter all the way to the Rustenburg Recreation Centre and Raspberries Functions.

Along the route, they found illegal dumping near a small river — now under investigation. “We urge all residents: please don’t dump illegally. Let’s keep our areas clean and beautiful,” said André.

Thanks go to Chris Gibson, OUTDOOR ARENA Security, WSSA, Crazy Skips, and the friendly residents who donated water and cooldrinks. The dumping issue was reported to Cllrs Rothman and Jean Keyser for follow-up.

27 October — Teamwork in Action
With help from the RLM Waste Department, OWM members filled a skip arranged by Cllr Rothman near Helen Joseph Street while others trimmed grass and overhanging branches along Geelhout Avenue.

29 October — OWM on Air!
André joined Pieter Motiveer on Harties FM to share OWM’s story and encourage community involvement. “Pieter made it such an enjoyable and inspiring conversation,” said André. “We truly appreciate the chance to share our message.”
