Rustenburg – From bush cutting to rubbish removal, Our Ward Matters (OWM) once again proved that transformation starts with teamwork. Led by André van Dyk and Cllr Tanya Rothman, and supported by the EPWP team, OWM rolled up their sleeves to bring visible change to Wards 16 and 17 — even with the rain trying to slow them down!

28 October – Ward 17 Litter Day
While André was live on Harties FM, the dedicated OWM team took action across Ward 17 — from Azalea Park to Cuckoo Avenue, up Helen Joseph, and down Waterberg Street. Residents may have noticed the signature black and yellow refuse bags lined up throughout the area — proof of a plan well executed.

29 – 30 October – Wildevy & Tamarisk Clean-ups
The OWM team continued their mission — cutting grass at the corner of Wildevy and Tamarisk, picking up rubbish, and tackling overgrown storm drains. Cllr Jean Keyser and Cllr Tanya Rothman joined the effort, while the RLM Waste Department provided skips to manage debris.

Even as rain interrupted progress, spirits stayed high. The next day, the team returned to finish what they started — cleaning storm drains, filling an excavation hole, and restoring visibility and safety near Mispel Lane.

3 November – Nylrivier & Helen Joseph Clean-up
Joining hands with the DA and activists Obakeng Molefe and Patricia from Phokeng, OWM led another successful clean-up from Nylapies towards Krokodilrivier and Helen Joseph Street. Together with Cllrs Jean Keyser, Tanya Rothman and Martin Coetzee, they cleared the water canal, cut grass, and removed illegal dumping near Tuscany Spar and Total Garage.

4 November – Kougaberg & Langeberg Avenues
Despite more rain, OWM members continued clearing bush and cutting grass in Azaleapark to reduce crime hiding spots and prevent veld fires.
