FLOATING GIANTS ABOVE US… A single cloud can weigh more than a million tonnes, even though it appears light and weightless in the sky. Large clouds, such as cumulus clouds, are made of billions of tiny water droplets and ice crystals. Each droplet is extremely small, but together they add up to an enormous mass. Clouds float because the droplets are spread out and supported by rising air currents, allowing something incredibly heavy to remain suspended above Earth.
