Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 gathered with heavy hearts to bid farewell to one of its own, detective warrant officer Shadrack Motlogelwa Mafuleka, during an official SAPS funeral held on Saturday, 17 January 2026.

The service took place in Rustenburg, before the late officer was laid to rest at his home village of Manamakgotheng. Family members, friends, colleagues, SAPS management and community members came together in solemn unity to honour a man remembered for his dedication, humility and unwavering commitment to duty.

Warrant officer Mafuleka served at Phokeng Detective Services, where he built a reputation as a disciplined and dependable detective. His policing journey began in 1990. 

Those who worked alongside him described him as professional, principled and deeply committed to justice. His calm approach and steadfast work ethic earned him respect not only within the police service, but also among community members who came to know him through his service.

Speaking on behalf of the acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District commissioner, brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, colonel Sam Tlholoe conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Mafuleka family and all those affected by the loss. “We have lost a dedicated and disciplined detective who served the SAPS and the community with commitment and integrity,” Colonel Tlholoe said.
