As a contestant on Big Brother Mzansi, Didi is living a dream she has carried for years — and she’s doing it with confidence, heart and unmistakable flair.
Big Brother Mzansi, which airs on DSTV Channel 198, is a social experiment that places more than 20 housemates under one roof with no contact with the outside world — no phones, no social media, no family visits. Contestants compete for a life-changing grand prize of R2 million, surviving weekly nominations, evictions and unexpected twists along the way.
A dream turned reality
In an interview with Didi’s family, we learned that entering the competition was no small feat. Didi submitted an audition video — her very first attempt — and successfully navigated several rounds of callbacks and further auditions before receiving the life-changing call in December.
For Didi, the motivation was clear. Passionate about fashion, modelling, design and all things creative, she believes the Big Brother stage offers the exposure and experience she needs to launch herself into the creative industry as a content creator and influencer.
“She has always dreamed of this,” her sister, Aobakwe Mothobi, shared. “This platform gives her the opportunity to showcase her personality and talent to the entire country.”
Staying true under 24/7 cameras
Being watched 24 hours a day might sound overwhelming, but those close to Didi believe she sometimes forgets the cameras are even there.
“She’s just being herself,” Aobakwe explained. “She’s comfortable, natural and authentic.”
Her strategy from day one? Simply to remain true to who she is. Rather than entering with a complex game plan, Didi hoped South Africa would fall in love with her personality, creativity and competitive spirit. Described as energetic, confident, beautiful, smart and talented, Didi is known as a people’s person with an empathetic heart. She embraces challenges and strives to uplift those around her — qualities that have helped her form connections inside the house.
Why Rustenburg should vote
Didi’s supporters believe she stands out because she balances focus with respect. She pays attention to what viewers want, while still maintaining her individuality. She values her fellow housemates and avoids unnecessary conflict, making her someone easy to live with — and easy to root for.
“She is young and has a promising future,” said Aobakwe Mothobi, Didi’s sister. “I’m hoping that Rustenburg can stand up for one of our own. Even if you are not a Big Brother fan, I believe us producing such talent can pave a great path for young people who are upcoming creatives.”
