After a 44-year-old woman in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, was fatally mauled by her own pit bull–type dogs on 28 January 2026, community concern has intensified. Some support a breeding ban, while others argue responsible ownership is the real issue. What is your view?

“No. A ban isn’t the full solution. Stricter regulation, responsible breeding, proper training and stronger enforcement would address the real causes of aggression and improve public safety.”
Daneel Scheepers, Rustenburg
