Rustenburg – A rapist who had spread fear within the Boitekong community from December 2010 until 2013, got five life sentences and three years behind bars, was sentenced by the Rustenburg Regional Court on Thursday, 18 January.

Kgomotso Justice Molotsi began his reign of terror in December 2010, when he raped three cousins aged between 16 and 29 years of age. In this case, the accused received three life terms for eight counts of rape. His fourth life sentence was imposed after he raped a 24-year old, and his fifth life sentence was sentenced after he raped a 27-year old woman in December 2013. The court further sentenced Molotsi to three years imprisonment for sexual assault against a 27-year old woman in April 2013 in Boitekong.
Molotsi modus operandi was to wait for victims who would be on their way home at night, attacking and raping the victims in the bushes, while threatening the victims with a knife.

The accused was linked through DNA matches to all six cases.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the investigating officer, detective warrant officer Mokgatlhe Mokgatlhe and all other members of the police, the community and the prosecution team for working together to ensure that a conviction is secured,” says lieutenant colonel Pelonomi Makau, police spokesperson.
