Rustenburg – The police is alerting cell phone shop owners of robbers that are targeting their stores in the wake of yet another robbery at the Waterfall Mall in Rustenburg on 18 June.

Sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, police spokesperson, said that the owner of the Waterfall Mall store was held at gunpoint by five gun-wielding suspects who tied his hands and feet with wire before making off with cell phones and cash.

“We urge shop owner to improve their security systems, have a backup record of their cell phones stock in the shops and always be vigilant,” Mokgadi said.

The Waterfall Mall robbery follows the arrest of two Pakistan nationals who were found in possession of hundreds of cell phones, some of which were stolen from a shop in Safarituine weeks ago.

The police appeal to anyone with information regarding the robberies to contact detective warrant officer Brander on 063-142 5137 or 014-590 4258.
