Father pleading for daughter’s release, 
shot and killed

Hartbeespoortdam – A 64-year-old man was shot and killed on Saturday, 23 June when three armed men accosted him and his daughter during a robbery in their home.

Lieutenant general Baile Motswenyane said police in Hartbeespoortdam are investigating a case of murder and house robbery.

The father and his three daughters had a family gathering. Two of his daughters left afterwards. The daughter who stayed behind (28), was outside in their yard when three men sneaked up on her. They instructed her to get inside. 

Once inside, they demanded cash from the father and daughter. While the father tried to negotiate with the suspects to release his daughter, he was shot in the chest. He died at the scene. 

 “The suspects fled with jewellery, a firearm, two television sets, a laptop, cell phone and other household items,” according to lieutenant colonel Amanda Funani, the police spokesperson.
