Rustenburg – In the early hours of Thursday morning 4 October, Jan (82) and Suzi (78) Scheepers were brutally attacked on their smallholding on the Avondale trunoff from the Koster road, just outside Rustenburg.

The perpetrators gained access to the house through a bedroom window.
The couple was bound and beaten before the assailants fled with the Scheepers’ silver Isuzu bakkie. It is still unknown exactly what was stolen from the house.


The victims finally managed to untie themselves and raised the alarm. Their neighbours immediately came to their rescue and summoned the police.The couple was rushed to Peglerae hospital. Both sustained serious head injuries but are in a stable condition.


The public is requested to please be on the lookout for the silver Isuzu bakkie with registration plate number HVT273NW that was stolen from the couple. The brake lights of the bakkie are out of order. Four dogs were poisoned on a nearby smallholding.

At time of going to print no further information was available.  Police spokesperson Major Adéle Myburgh confirmed that a farmworker that lived close to the couple was also attacked.


A case of house robbery is being investigated...
