Six killed, four critical in N4 Rustenburg collision
Rustenburg – At least six people have been killed, and four others sustained critical injuries, when a cement truck and a 26-seater minibus collided on the N4 near Rustenburg on Thursday evening, 16 March 2017.
Paramedics from ER24 and local rescue services arrived on the scene at approximately 5.30pm where they found several people scattered across the scene. At least six people were found with fatal injuries.
Four people, including a child believed to be approximately eight years old, sustained critical injuries. Several people were found trapped inside of the minibus. The local fire and rescue services had to use jaws of life to free some of the trapped victims inside the vehicle.
It is believed that approximately 25 people were involved in the collision.
The exact circumstances of the collision are not yet known. However, it appears as if the cement truck collided into the side of the minibus.
Local authorities attended the scene and investigations continue.
