Phokeng/Rustenburg – There was a hive of soccer activity on Saturday 29 April 2023 during the Seboleswa Four Nations Cup at the reaction force ground in Phokeng.

Soccer clubs from South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Botswana battled it out in what turned out to be an entertaining day of football action. In the first match, Phokeng Masters (from South Africa) lost 3-4 to Likhukhuni Masters (from Lesotho) in a match which was decided through a penalty shootout.

River Kings (from Botswana) registered a 2-1 victory over Umhlabanyathi (from Swaziland) in the second match of the day. Phokeng Masters clinched third position by a 3-1 victory over Umhlabanyathi. The final, a tightly contested match, saw River Kings registering a 4-3 win over Likhukhuni Masters through a penalty shootout.

The winning team, River Kings, received a trophy and 25 yellow medals while the runners up, Likhukhuni Masters, received 25 silver medals. Phokeng Masters, who finished third, received 25 bronze medals.

“We are proud to have been the hosts of the games this time around,” managing director of Phokeng Masters Ferdinand Phusoane said. “The next games will be hosted by Likhukhuni Masters in Lesotho around October 2023,” Phusoane added.   

Phokeng Masters, who hosted the competition, battled hard and finished third.
