Rustenburg’s young artists light up Three Star Powertrade walls

Rustenburg – On a vibrant Saturday morning, 17 February 2024, Rustenburg turned into a canvas of dreams for promising young artists of the community, thanks to Three Star Powertrade’s awesome Graffiti Wall competition. The air buzzed with excitement as 45 local kids, armed with paintbrushes and bursting with creativity, set the wall outside Three Star Powertrade ablaze with colour!

A burst of colour and fun!
The competition kicked off at 09:00 with each participant receiving a picture of a product from the generous sponsors at Three Star Powertrade. The challenge? To bring these images to life on the grand wall. From the fizz of a Rockstar energy drink to the tangy zest of Nando’s sauce, creativity knew no bounds as the young artists painted their hearts out.

At noon, the young artists paused for a tasty treat of boerewors rolls, getting ready for the big finish. Everyone was buzzing with excitement while the judges made their choices, setting the stage for the prize-giving where the top five talents received some awesome rewards.

Prizes that paint smiles!

  • First place: 10-year-old Ndiene Netangaheni dazzled with his Rockstar energy drink masterpiece, winning a R500 voucher and a whopping R1,500 grocery voucher monthly for six months — a grand total prize worth R9,500!
  • Second place: 11-year-old Regomoditswe Mokwele captured the essence of Nando’s sauce, securing a R500 voucher and R1,000 in monthly grocery vouchers for six months, totalling R6,500.
  • Creative contenders: Third to fifth places were no less spectacular, with each young artist receiving a R500 voucher along with R500 in monthly grocery vouchers for half a year, all adding up to a cool R3,500.

A community united in creativity
Wayne Labuschagne, Three Star Powertrade’s regional general manager, shared the spirit behind the event: “It’s more than a competition; it’s about enriching our community through the boundless creativity of our children. Each painted wall tells a story of hope, dreams, and the joy of giving back.”
This unforgettable day not only celebrated the artistic talents of Rustenburg’s youth but also highlighted the warmth and unity of our community. A huge round of applause to our young Picassos and a heartfelt thank you to Three Star Powertrade for painting our town with love and creativity.
